There are many advantages to introducing reclaimed wood into your home.  From the “green” aspects of reusing and recycling wood to the beauty of aged wood, the benefits are endless.  But perhaps the best advantage of using reclaimed wood is the sheer durability and strength of wood of a bygone era.  When explorers and pioneers first visited North America, the forests were filled with massive old growth timber.  The trees in most cases were several hundred, and sometimes thousands, of years old.  When trees reach full maturity and growth the chemical composition is incomparable to the wood used in today’s furniture and flooring resulting in strong, durable, gorgeous timber.  We can now use this to our advantage by utilizing reclaimed wood in our homes for virtually any project!  Here are a few ideas…
